Speaking on Monday - world media freedom day - the Belgian MEP decried the decision by some media organisations to cut back on their EU coverage.

The former TV journalist said, "This is a great pity. I am saying that not just because, as an MEP, I work in the EU, but because it indicates how the media is moving."
